Ginkgo

2019 - 2020

Version: 1.0      |      Used: C++, Blueprints, Unreal Engine 4      |      Job: Lead Engineer

Ginkgo is an asian-inspired horror game for PC, developed in Unreal Engine 4. As Lead Engineer, I was responsible to develop, prototype, refactor, and implement all engineer systems. I mainly worked on the fabric systems, AI behavior, needle polish features and main game mechanics. I also worked on optimization and focused on bringing customizable graphic options in order to bring Ginkgo to as many players as possible. I worked closely with the Lead Designer to quickly iterate on player feedback and I worked with the Producer to bring to the team of five engineers weekly tasks.

Ginkgo was released on May 12th on itch.io. It was awarded to be presented at the Spotlight show at the USCGamesExpo. Ginkgo got significant social media traction and it was played by several popular Youtubers and Streamers including Jacksepticeye and Mxmtoon. Ginkgo was awarded #3 Best Gameplay at the Intel Games Showcase at the virtual GDC2020. Ginkgo was originally developed for the CSCI529a-b Advanced Game Project class at the University of Southern California.
